October news from Pignon

In our everyday lives in Haiti, we often use this word which comes from the Creole “Atche!”. This word marks, among other things, astonishment in the face of any situation. For this, I use it to show you how difficult our political, social, and economic situations are, to name but a few.
The human being is the essence of life on earth but in the face of our egos, no one can better understand how to meet the daily earthly demands. The land of Haiti especially, is now worse due to lack of appreciation of innovative ideas and/or understanding related to the purpose of creation. People live emotionally but not mutually. Our society dips in cases where money can’t do anything. People’s way of understanding is getting worse. No one seeks negotiation, none.
Since September 03, 2022 to date, no one dares to disclose information on the grand opening of classes for the 2022-2023 academic year. After the postponement of the opening of classes to October 03, school officials in Pignon as throughout the national territory are awaiting the words of the government. “We are waiting for the order of the hierarchical staff, namely the MENFP”, insists a manager.
Necessities remain and remain luxury goods for Haitian families. The cost of food is rising to the point in which there is daily hunger. According to the latest IMF report, 5.5 million Haitians are in acute food insecurity. This is a critical situation that is far from resolved.
The medical field cannot function given the rising price of fuels that cannot be found in gas pumps where only vendors across the streets determine the price according to the destination where they come from. We need an amount of 1750.00 HTG for a gallon of gasoline and 2000.00 HTG for a gallon of diesel in the municipality of Pignon. These numbers are worse in other municipalities (departments of the country). You can travel 30 km without slowing down because all along the road, there are a lot of obstacles, either interruptions with the burning of rubber or the use of other things that can affect traffic.
Nothing can guarantee a better life without the involvement of our government, which does not seek to satisfy the people but works as it pleases. In recent days, the government has taken the decision to appeal for international assistance for a military intervention to combat insecurity and resolve the humanitarian crisis that is eating away at the first black republic in the world.
According to confirmed information, US coast guards are already on the sea from Port-au-Prince. At the same time, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Brian Nichol’s and other senior US government officials have been on mission in Haiti since October 12 for 48 hours. What’s going to happen? We don’t know yet, but it’s not new. Haiti has already experienced 10 UN missions and the American occupation with poor results.
