March News From Pignon

“To those who loved, love and will love, life will be exciting.”
Darling included the quote, above, at the beginning of this month’s newsletter. It seemed only fitting to include this loving photo of his family. This month he writes:
We thank God for always being with us, investing all his presence in our daily lives to prove his unlimited existence and his sovereign and permissible will.
We are back with our updates, sharing little stories about the life and the functioning of the Haitian people and the people of the Pignon community.
Again, our ritual does not cease to describe a little this city (Pignon) which is located in the northern zone of Haiti where the progress of this population is based on the plantation of sugar cane (Canne-à-sucre , a non-seasonal and commendable plant). The Electricity of Haiti (ED’H) is available but not frequently used in Pignon and Saint Raphael. There are two gasoline pumps in our municipality which are relied on heavily for the use of generators (gasoline/diesel) to operate businesses, health institutions, educational institutions. The scarcity of fuel is ever increasing.
Our doctors have noticed an increase in cases malaria and/or typhoid through a lot of cases presented to the Bienfaisance de Pignon hospital at the end of January 2023.
Our focus has been based on the proper functioning of schools since January despite all the financial, social, and economic difficulties of this society. It is with certainty that the 2022-2023 academic year will be accomplished in many areas of Haiti although no specific news can be displayed for schools located in the West department of the country.
Economic and financial life is above all a challenge for all families, whether employed or unemployed. Banks are obliged to have many restrictions in order to not distribute too many bank loans (seen the irregularities of the customers at the time of the refunds). Credits are delivered at a very high rate while the price of necessities fluctuates daily. On the other hand, merchants or consumers cannot decide. No taste, no preference. Public transport is the easiest way but now the price goes up regardless of roadways.
We want to encourage you to pray for the Haitian people who every day go through unidentified difficulties where no one thinks of any solution that could help this nation to live as the creator God wanted. Entrusting us that Haiti has the light and all heavenly protection upon it and that the people be blessed in the name of Jesus.
With you, Darling SERIPHIN
